"This is a meditation in which you have to be continuously alert, conscious, aware.
Whatsoever you do, remain a witness."
- Osho -
Osho Dynamic Meditation lasts for one hour and is in five stages. It can be done
alone, and can be even more powerful when it is done with others. When doing
this meditation with others, the meditation remains an individual experience,
so you should remain oblivious of others around you and keep your eyes closed
throughout, preferably using a blindfold. A blindfold will be helpful to keep
your attention focused inward. It is best to have an empty stomach and wear
loose, comfortable clothing. As with all meditations, make sure you are in a
situation where you will not be disturbed or interrupted.
Breathing rapidly in
and out through the nose, let breathing be intense and chaotic. The breath
should move deeply into the lungs, and whenever you notice that you are getting
into a set pattern or rhythm, change it. Do this as totally as you possibly
can. Allow any body movements to happen. Use these natural body movements to
help you build up your energy. Feel it building up, but don't let go during the
first stage.
Second stage: 10
minutes
Explode! Let go of everything that needs to be thrown out. Go totally mad,
scream, shout, cry, jump, shake, dance, sing, laugh, throw yourself around.
Hold nothing back, keep your whole body moving. A little acting often helps to
get you started. Don't allow your mind to interfere with what is happening. Be
total.
Third stage: 10
minutes
With raised arms, jump up and down shouting the mantra HOO! HOO! HOO! as deeply
as possible. Each time you land, on the flats of your feet, let the sound
hammer deep into the sex center. Give all you have, exhaust yourself totally.
Fourth stage: 15
minutes
STOP! Freeze where you are in
whatever position you find yourself. Don't arrange the body in any way. A
cough, a movement, anything will dissipate the energy flow and the effort will
be lost. Be a witness to everything that is happening to you.
Fifth stage: 15
minutes
Celebrate! . . . with music and dance
express whatsoever is there. Carry your aliveness with you throughout the
day.
Never suppress, but
never create chains -- this is the rule. Remember not to suppress, and remember
not to create any chain. Once you learn the art you can be free of all these
madnesses which come into you, without creating any disturbance in life. Every
day catharsis is needed. Life is complex, and many things come into the mind
which have to be thrown. That's why I emphasize Dynamic Meditation so much. You
don't know what you are doing here. When you get into it you are doing all
sorts of things. Somebody is throwing anger, somebody is throwing jealousy,
somebody throwing hatred, somebody throwing his sadness, screaming -- the whole
life of misery is being thrown in it. Make it a point every day: just as you
clean your body every day, clean your mind. This is a bath for the mind. Throw
everything, but don't throw upon anybody; that is violence. Throw it into the
vacuum. And the vacuum is big enough, the space is big enough. Don't you get
worried about what will happen to the pillow, what will happen to the space --
nothing is going to happen, all that you throw into it is absorbed. And then it
never replies to you, there is no chain created. The act simply ends, no karma
is created through it. Do things in such a way that no future is created
through them.
