Swami Anand Dayal aka John Howard Clarke 29 October 1955 – 15 June 2006

Beloved Dayal left his body in the presence of myself and his daughter, Aruna at our home in Lancaster, England. He was listening to Osho and at the point of his departing Osho was saying “My beloved ones, I love you”.

Dayal was diagnosed with a brain tumour in January this year, he had become ill during December 2005. He faced his situation with surrender and courage. During his first spell in hospital he had a Satori which helped him face his approaching death with great dignity and grace.

Dayal had been a devoted sannyasin for 25 years and has brought Osho’s meditations and teachings to many people and always opened his home and heart to anyone who came. He was also a keen motorcyclist, football enthusiast and was a well respected sports journalist with the Lancashire Evening Post for many years.

Latterly he also became a very keen fell walker and we enjoyed exploring the Lake District with many friends. His ashes were scattered on his favourite mountain, Ingleborough in North Yorkshire.

Dayal was a very generous, compassionate and loving man and leaves many beloved friends all over the world. He had just celebrated his 50th birthday with his twin brother, David. He was a wonderful partner to me for almost 15 years and we were married in January this year. Dayal was always a devoted father to Aruna, who is now 21 years old.

We celebrate him always in our hearts.
