Dearest Nadia, I found out just today, almost two months after the tragedy that you are no longer with us. Just today, I checked facebook trying to reconnect with you after so many years.
The thoughts of our times together, of your enlightening laugh, of your eyes full of joy and the memories of the smiles and tears that brought us to broadening the search for spiritual evolution, wouldn't stay away from my mind and heart.
I wanted so much to tell you that I miss you my friend, that I am sorry if there might have been misunderstandings and that I love you.
Your senses can not longer hear my words as I wish it would have been, but the Conscience of your pure Spirit know our Souls are together in the path between the worlds.
You helped to create the Light.
May Peace be with You in your journey.
Subject: About missing person...
life go on but.... You may want to read this
Some of you have written in the last few days to ask if I felt the German Bakery bombings has had any effect on the Osho Resort - and the Koregaon Park neighbourhood in general - and wanted a report on what's happening now and my impressions of the atmosphere.
So I decided to wait till I'd been inside the resort to give you a picture, which I am sending as a group mailing (because my fingers are aching from so much extra keyboard work since the bombing happened...)
I was in on Friday for the first time since the German Bakery bombing, a week ago. When I arrived in the early morning, the front gate was thoroughly barricaded with police gates and nearby blue buses; men in khaki uniforms with guns and little groups of officers were all over the place. The Gateless Gate was almost shut, with a narrow opening for pass-holders to go inside and someone was sitting just inside checking bags.
By lunch the weathered heavy metal barricades had been replaced by delicate loopy cordons camouflaged by rows of plants. The bag checkers were on both sides of the road and they now sat behind tables, so everything could be examined in detail if necessary.
I had been warned not to go into the auditorium if I wasn't willing to leave my bag and cell-phone outside in the shoe area where, apparently, no one would be watching it. As I don't have a locker, I chose not to go. But at breakfast in Meera I did notice someone sitting at the entrance to the moat 'bridge' also checking bags there. The side door to the auditorium has been locked for several weeks already, for security reasons, I understand, so having a pee means down and up several flights, but it's nice to know we are being looked after.
Extra barbed wire (or maybe the first time I noticed it) now tops the high wall between Meera garden restaurant and the apartment blocks behind. I had been in Dyanesh's office about a fortnight ago and seen the several CCTV monitors, with cameras scouring the front gate and various other strategic spots, so you can rest assured, someone has been taking care for a long time.
Not being able to sit in the auditorium, as I normally do at that time, I headed to Lao Tsu pond and did my sitting there, with the trickle of running water and the hoot of summer birds. But I became aware that the back gate road was eerily free of rickshaw engines, nice for me of course, only I discovered later the reason was that Lane 2 had been cordoned off as well.
Inside, however, the atmosphere didn't seem very different from normal.
The 11am disco in Buddha Grove was as lively as ever and lots of eccentrically dancing folk prancing around joyfully as always. The bamboos are losing their leaves and it's very hot already - but that has nothing to do with the German Bakery, of course.... The season is gently slowing down, but those people in the Plaza were sitting drinking cappuccino and nibbling kokras as usual; groups of Indian boys gathered in the smoking area; someone handed out a press release from the NY Times about security in Pune, but nothing in it struck me as especially new.
Although security seemed to have let up during the day, I was called by a frantic friend on her way to Evening Meeting who wanted to know why the Lanes were full of the army again - as if I'd know.
It seems there might have been another alarm, because by evening the barricades were all up again, impeding entry to every lane of Old Koregaon Park from North Main. They were there again the following morning and now you can't turn into German Bakery Lane (Lane A) from North Main any more nor into Lane 1. GB Lane is also blocked at the far end for cars - bicycles only going through and an armed officer holding a clipboard standing there.
The Bakery itself is still shrouded in metres of fabric. Its 1st & 2nd floor windowpanes are all broken, although someone reported this morning having seen a light in an upstairs window last night, suggesting a return to life.
Neighbouring liquor store Bottom's Up (sic!) is also covered from sight, but CafÚ Coffee Day, the next shop along towards the petrol pumps, has been opened up; its shattered picture window panes plainly visible.
Cops are everywhere. Little enclaves of sandbags have been positioned all around that GB and Lane 1 junction and Chabad House, west towards Krishna Medicare. Barriers across NM Rd are once again slowing down traffic for random inspection, as they were for a month or so in December.
We are told the police are out in force checking foreigners' passports and visas, and that landlords are being asked to show their C-1 forms for foreign tenants - all in a big way, I'm told, though no one has checked mine yet.
On an atmospheric gauge, that whole part of KP is quiet and relatively empty now except for through traffic, after days of gawkers, photographers and TV vans with cameras rolling.
With the police presence the chappal-wallahs and fabric vendors all seem to have vanished. The Indian families, foreigners and students who would gather in the Bakery for breakfast have all dispersed, clearly deciding to stick to their own areas. I saw hardly anyone on GB Lane this morning.
As for feeling...
Well many GB regulars, including me, have come down to earth after the initial shock of injured (and expired) friends, hospital visits and near misses... We have suddenly realised our favourite eatery has gone. A big loss to those who live here.
Probably there is shock everywhere, as news emerges of fresh deaths (young Indians, who've been languishing in Inlaks all week) and, so I am told by Inlaks, two unidentified and unclaimed bodies.
To me this is one of the biggest heartaches, because you can't help feeling, with Indian family life as extensive as it is and meditators as solitary as they are, the unclaimed are most likely to be foreigners.
If there's anyone you think, even remotely, could have been there last Saturday night - February 13th, around 7pm - who might not know anyone, send them an email, phone them up, text them, do anything to make sure you hear from them.
And if you really think you might know a missing person, check with Dyanesh (at the Osho Resort ext 888). Dyanesh, I gather, has been working night and day on this since it happened, so only add to his burdens if you genuinely think you might now someone's identity.
As you can imagine, the feeling of mourning and shattered innocence has touched everyone in the neighbourhood.
But life does go on.
Farewell dear Nadia.
With Love and Tears
Love & Light beautiful Nadia...
Thanks for the link to her photo - yes, she is beautiful.

A Letter I just got in from a friend in Pune :
I m ok.
I was in rickshaw on my way to bakery to see a friend and heard
unbearable loud noise.. suddenly loads of bodies into pieces outside
I m in shock. Straight i went to hospital and the sight i saw
i ll never forget rest of my life.. bodies after bodies dead or alive coming in pieces... whole koregaon park is sealed and both south/north rd are blocked...
It's an international issue now.
Dhyanesh and all people from ashram are shocked. All the shops around bakery are finished including videotron, , tibetan lady shop, there s nothing there ....
I went to give blood , loads of water n bandages, to the people re injured. My brother on his bike taking people to hospital and also on his shoulders...
o far 15 dead(including foreigners) and 57 badly injured.
On tv they dont say the truth but its worst than that.
Sad part is bodies are soo black due to the chemical they used in bomb that its damn hard to recognise anyone...
My beloved lovely italian friend nadia is dead with whom i had breakfast same morning in bakery, Shankar money changer is no more, (Shankar shop, hi got out unhurt)
One nepali waiter is dead, no news of tibetan lady yet.
I hope she is ok. I wish i had something pleasent to tell you.. but right now situation is bad specially it happened at home.. Koregaon park, German bakery is home for all of us since years...
Will write u more later Not to worry..
Big hug and take care, Thanks and pray that all rest in peace..

Be the center of the cyclone: that's exactly my teaching.
The world IS a tale told by an idiot, full of fury and noise, signifying nothing. But it is very easy to get caught into the net, because the fool is not only outside, the fool is also inside. Your mind is part of the tale told by an idiot and your mind would like to find some meaning it it -- whereas none exists. The mind cannot remain without finding some meaning; if it cannot find, it invents it. Otherwise it feels empty, it feels something is missing.
There is no meaning in the world; all meaning is in the very center of your being. The world is simply noise, there is no music. Music is in the deepest recesses of your being -- and that music has to be heard in all the noise of the world. Then the noise of the world functions as a backdrop, a background; it becomes a context. You can hear the inner music more clearly because of the noise. Then the noise is no longer a disturbance, rather a help. That's why I don't teach renunciation: I teach rejoicing.
